Plan on arriving at 10:30 for a capuccino on us.

The 1 hour ukulele workshop that follows makes for a perfect beginning to a great week ahead. Lots of learning and a bit of YUGA have created a wonderful backdrop to a growing group of regular participants. Drop in when you can: every session stands alone. Easy to intermediate, but not for absolute beginners.

JYJ is an in-depth share of what we've learned from producing well over 500 public ukulele events.

It's for leaders of ukulele clubs, groups, ensembles and jams, and for those thinking about starting something up. It's about how to up the ante: how to get the most out of your time, energy and resources, how to lead, teach, manage, promote and how to produce the best possible experience for your members.

SInce its inception on January 14, 2009, the Corktown Ukulele Jam has grown to 1,700 active members and become the epicenter of Toronto's happening uke scene.

Concerts

Our position in the sizeable Toronto ukulele scene gives us comprehensive, highly efficient reach as concert promoters and promotional partners. We have presented some of the contemporary uke scene's biggest names to capacity audiences: Manitoba Hal (x4), and Lionel Hubert, Jim & Liz Beloff and Ralph Shaw - each for the first time ever in Toronto. In October 2012, we co-presented the Jake Shimabukuro documentary Life on Four Strings at Toronto's Reel Asian International Film Festival, and partnered in presenting Jake Shimabukuro in concert to a packed Markham Theatre in April, 2013.

June 16, 2010 - In Toronto for Moses Znaimer's IDEA CITY conference, Jake dropped by the Corktown Ukulele Jam for 2.5 hours of spontaneous performance and dialogue. For many of us, Jake's impromptu visit has become one of the most profound and. There are several video captures of the occassion on our YouTube channel.
