WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • several songs in a variety of genres with a focus on expression, style and groove

  • a wide variety of chords that enable you to approach any song on your own:

All common major, minor, 7, m7, dim7, maj7, 6

  • reading charts, tablature and intro to music notation (mapping what's on the staff to your fretboard)

  • intro to chordal picking and melodic picking

  • time signature, meter, tempo

  • comfortable, fluid basic right hand strum technique in all three categories and their variants: Hawaiian, Nail, Flesh

  • chiming

  • intro to chordal picking and melodic picking

  • getting the most out of practice time

  • introduction to YUGA as a highly efficient way to develop to holistic improvement

  • tuning

  • instrument anatomy

 

GENERAL INFO

  • group setting geared to individual attention

  • limited to 25 participants

  • we use "C6" tuning: G-C-E-A

  • please arrive early for tuning assistance and to get settled: we start promptly at the appointed time

  • an online link to our projected presentation will be sent to you within 48h following your workshop

  • minimum age: 16, no exceptions

  • there is a 5-minute washroom break at the top of each hour

  • this workshop cannot accommodate baritone ukes

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • a playable ukulele* in decent condition that stays in tune under normal conditions(sopranino, soprano, concert or tenor ukes only please - no baritones)

  • short nails! Your left hand finger nails need to allow clean compact between your finger tips and the string (trimmed to "just" below your finger tips)

  • recommended: an electronic chromatic tuner (about $20).
    We like the Kala KC-02 or the Snark

  • an open mind to singing and fun
